x Is Not Always the Answer

Solving a linear equation is two disciplines stacked: keep both sides equal through every move, and then hand back the exact quantity the question named. Watch where careful solvers still lose the point — the factor that reaches only the first term, the minus sign that goes missing, and the correct value of x reported for a question that never asked for x.

What the symbols mean
