Like Dissolves Like — and Why
Salt vanishes into water. Oil refuses, and no amount of stirring changes its mind. The rule that separates them is four words long, but the reason is the whole of Topic 3.1: dissolving happens only when the attractions a solute makes with its solvent can pay for the attractions you had to break to get there.
